Meet a delivery partner who saved a home from a fire while delivering

Ciara has been delivering with Amazon Flex in Des Moines, Iowa, for about eight months. While out delivering packages to Amazon customers recently, the single mother of three noticed smoke rising from the attic of a house. She pulled over and sprang into action.

“I called 911 and then went to bang on the door because I saw a car in the driveway,” said Ciara. “No one was home, so I waited for the fire department to arrive and explained what happened. Then I finished my delivery block on time."

She said that Amazon Flex gives her the flexibility she needs to balance work and family.

"Amazon Flex is very accommodating when it comes to your schedule," said Ciara. "You have early-morning blocks, late-night blocks, and everything in-between. I have to find that happy medium where I can be there if my kids get sick or need to be picked up, and Amazon Flex provides that.”

Her recent heroics led to Ciara being featured on the local news. Her eight-year-old son saw the story. “He was impressed - so that was pretty cool."
