Amazon’s Safe Pets, Safe Communities campaign is designed to help keep you safe while delivering around pets. The campaign will include a series of messages encouraging you to contact customers if you feel unsafe due to the presence of a pet, and to check for the paw print icon in the Amazon Flex app to identify delivery stops with dogs. The campaign will also include national ads on Amazon video streaming platforms, Amazon Music, and more. The ads encourage Amazon customers to secure pets before deliveries, and to update delivery instructions in the Amazon app to notify you when there are pets at a delivery stop.

Your safety is our priority. With warmer weather ahead, we wanted to share our top recommendations to make deliveries safer when a pet is present.

Preparing for your route

The Learning Portal in the Amazon Flex app includes helpful suggestions on avoiding dogs during deliveries. You can access the information at any time under “Staying safe” > “What to do if there is a dog at a deliverylocation.” These videos and articles can help you respond confidently if you encounter a dog.

While delivering

Before you arrive at a stop, please check the Delivery Notes in the app for apaw print icon. The paw print icon means that a dog may be present, based on reports from the customer or delivery drivers who used the “Report a dog on your route” option. If you see a paw print icon, tap the question mark icon (?) > Text the customer > Notify of arrival to send a message alerting the customerthat you are on your way and asking them to secure any pets.

At delivery stops

When approaching a customer’s house, look for clues that a pet may be present, such as food and water bowls, and announce “Amazon delivery.” If you see an unsecured pet, return to your vehicle. From your vehicle, select the “Contact customer” option in the Amazon Flex app to ask that the pet be secured, or to suggest a safe alternate delivery location. If you cannot reach the customer, or between 8 PM and 8 AM, contact Driver Support.

If you ever feel unsafe during a delivery, you do not have to deliver the package. After contacting the customer or Driver Support, tap the (?) >Unable to deliver > Unsafe due to dog, and return the package to the pickup location.
