Our deep commitment to safety guides our approach to everything at Amazon Flex. As an Amazon Flex delivery partner, during the cold weather months, it’s important to take extra precautions to keep yourself and your vehicle safe. Here are some tips and recommendations to help you safely deliver in winter weather.

Staying aware of weather conditions

Winter weather can be unpredictable, which is why it's important to stay aware of weather changes. To help, we have a team of meteorologists who examine forecasts, assess potential weather impacts, and provide timely information to keep you safe on the road. If inclement weather is expected to impact your area and scheduled delivery block, we provide updates before, during, and after weather events via the Amazon Flex app and by email. You can also find weather-related safety alerts in the 'Updates' section of the app to keep you informed and prepared. In addition, you should always maintain awareness and use your best judgment, as conditions on the ground can change rapidly.

Safe driving in winter weather

When driving in snowy, icy, or rainy conditions, it’s important to take additional precautions to keep you safe on the road. While driving, reduce your speed to ensure your tires keep their grip on the road. We also recommend maintaining extra distance between your vehicle and others so you have more time to react. When visibility is low due to fog or snowfall, it’s best to pull over to review the delivery addresses for your upcoming stops rather than stopping in traffic.

Service your vehicle

Remember to keep your vehicle well-maintained, especially during the winter when you’re using heating systems. Take time to warm up your vehicle and maintain proper fuel or electric vehicle battery levels to ensure it’s ready and functioning properly. Regularly check tire treads, fluid levels, and lights to stay prepared for shorter and colder days.

Staying warm

As the temperature drops, wear warm, protective layers such as hats, coats, and gloves. We also recommend wearing a safety vest as your outermost layer. Amazon-branded safety vests are available to you at the delivery station at no cost. These vests include reflective technology so you stay visible to vehicles and customers. Slip-resistant footwear provides additional traction and grip on icy and slick surfaces. In colder weather, remember to monitor for temperature-related numbness, tingling, or stinging in your fingers or toes.

When you’re delivering this winter, and any other time, you should never make a delivery if you feel unsafe. Your safety is our priority, and our Driver Support team is available through the Amazon Flex app to help assist you anytime.
