As Amazon Flex delivery partners are on the road delivering smiles this winter, we’re supporting you with a network of people and technology dedicated to helping you stay safe.

Our winter preparation includes a team of meteorologists and other experts who use predicative forecasting technology, track seasonal weather events, assess the potential impact on our operations, and identify ways to help ensure that safety remains the top priority. We use this information, along with additional sources like travel advisories, to make adjustments to recommended delivery routes and to aid in decisions about opening or closing operations at pickup locations due to weather events.

When we learn of a weather event that may impact a delivery block you’ve scheduled, we communicate in real time through Amazon Flex app notifications and emails before, during, and after the events. We also provide weather safety alerts in the app and offer ongoing safety suggestions on the “Updates” screen. In addition, we offer an option for you to send a prepared “Notify of Arrival” message to customers through the app when you’re nearby. This can be especially helpful in winter, as it asks customers to get ready for your arrival by lighting the pathway and keeping it free of hazards.

At our pickup locations, we install ice plates outside the buildings to help mitigate slip, trip, and fall incidents during cold conditions. We also recommend that you wear slip-resistant shoes, with a closed toe and closed heel, to help you walk steady and confidently in all weather conditions. We offer this type of footwear, including ice cleats, to all US delivery partners at an exclusive discount through Amazon Flex Rewards. In addition, reflective Amazon Flex vests are available for free to all US delivery partners from all Amazon pickup locations.

To help keep your vehicle in a safe condition for winter driving, while keeping more money in your pocket, we partner with major auto-service brands to provide you with discounts on oil changes, tires, and services. To take advantage of these discounts and more, visit the “Rewards Details” screen in the Amazon Flex app.

When you’re delivering this winter, and any other time, you should never make a delivery if you feel unsafe. Your safety is our priority, and your standing will not be impacted for reporting a safety concern. If you have a question when you’re delivering, you can contact our driver support team through the Amazon Flex app. There is also an “Emergency Help” button, which offers the option to contact 911 if you need emergency services.
