Meet a delivery partner known for helping people

As a firefighter, paramedic, dad, husband, classmate, and teacher, Chad made a difference in his community even before he delivered his first package with Amazon Flex.

Like several of his friends at the firehouse, Chad became a delivery partner in 2021 to earn extra money. And while Chad never thought his many roles would merge, one day he stepped up as a delivery partner and firefighter at the same time.

“I was about halfway through a 4-hour delivery block when I saw what I thought might be flames coming from a home near the highway,” Chad said. “I stopped, turned around, drove back toward the house and confirmed that there were flames inside an attached garage. I knew that if anyone was in the house, they may not have any idea about the fire.”

Chad parked his car and called 911.

“Then I ran around the house banging as loud as I could on all the doors and windows until I got the attention of an elderly woman inside,” Chad said. “She had no idea there was a fire.”

Chad led both the woman and her son outside. Everyone was safe thanks to Chad’s quick actions.

The fire department arrived quickly and prevented the flames from spreading to the home itself.
