Our deep commitment to safety guides our approach to everything at Amazon Flex. As a delivery partner, you may see dogs when you’re delivering, so we provide resources that can help you stay safe in these situations. Here are some of the ways you can use these resources to prioritize your safety and deliver with confidence.

Before your delivery route

The best way to prevent an injury from a dog is knowing how to avoid an interaction. For helpful advice on how to do this, view the dog safety videos and suggestions in the Learning Portal of the Amazon Flex app. You can access these at any time under “Staying safe” > “What to do if there is a dog at a delivery location.”

Approaching a delivery location

Once your delivery block begins, there are additional resources available to you in the Amazon Flex app. Using the “Notify of arrival” feature alerts the next customer on your route that you’re on your way, and asks them to secure any pets. To send this pre-written message, tap the question mark icon (?) > “Text the customer” > “Notify of arrival.” This feature is particularly important for delivery locations with a paw print icon next to the address in the app. The paw print icon means that a dog may be present, based on reports from the customer or delivery drivers who used the “Report a dog on your route” option. Each paw print also has a “Learn more” link with helpful dog safety advice that you can instantly view.

At a delivery location

Looking for clues such as food and water bowls, and making noise such as announcing “Amazon delivery,” can help you identify if a dog may be present at a delivery location. If you see a dog that is not secured, we recommend returning to the safety of your vehicle. Once you’re at a safe location, consider using the “Contact customer” option in the Amazon Flex app to ask that the dog be secured, or to suggest a safe alternate delivery location.

Your safety is our priority, and we don’t expect you to ever make a delivery if you feel unsafe. We provide an option in the Amazon Flex app to indicate that you could not complete a delivery due to a dog safety concern. If you arrive at a delivery location and do not feel safe, you can also contact driver support through the Amazon Flex app.
